Map of Zambia, showing Chiawa

Chiawa Camp (& Old Mondoro)

Chiawa was the first safari camp to be opened in the Lower Zambezi National Park (as recently as 1989) and is the only camp in the park still owned by its founders, the Cumings family. Perhaps the best all round safari camp in Zambia, Chiawa lives up to its reputation for imaginative delivery and consistently high standards in all aspects. Exceptional guiding, fantastic wildlife, friendly atmosphere, personalised service, luxury accommodation, renowned cuisine and a wonderful variety of activities - Chiawa has it all and offers an unsurpassed safari in Africa.

The camp can accommodate up to 16 guests comprising of two Superior Tents, one Honeymoon Tent and six Luxury Safari Tents. All tents are en-suite with shower, flush loo and washbasin. The Honeymoon and Superior Tents offer some truly luxurious extras including baths with stunning views!

Activities include bush walks, game drives, river safaris, fishing and canoeing. And when its time to relax, there is a lovely thatched lounge/bar area with upstairs viewing deck and lots of comfy furniture. Meals are complemented by a similarly styled dining room with al-fresco dining area, set under a large winter thorn tree and overlooking the Zambezi River. Other amenities include a viewing hide and a refreshing plunge pool with wooden sundeck for the hot months.

Top Tip:
If you only have 7 days to spend on safari, combine Chiawa with Old Mondoro - awesome, inspirational and invigorating - you won't want to leave!
