Old Mondoro Bush Camp

Associated with Chiawa and situated in a wonderful location, far inside the Lower Zambezi National Park, with great game viewing in miles of open woodland, Old Mondoro is the only bush camp in this area. The camp is small and only caters to a maximum of 8 people but it is truly beautiful and reflects the wild spirit of Africa. The natural build and rustic atmosphere provides guests with an authentic and remote safari that concentrates on the wildlife and bush experience.

Unpretentious and uncomplicated, the camp is set in a grove of Acacia trees on the banks of the Zambezi River and provides a comfortable retreat after an adventure filled day in the bush. The emphasis here is very much on walking and promises a unique safari that gives guests the best bush experience possible, though both game drives and river safaris can also be enjoyed.

Somewhat reminiscent of the mobile camps of East Africa, Old Mondoro has 4 bush reed chalets with canvas roofs, a lounge/bar area under a Winter Thorn tree that overlooks a maze of islands in the Zambezi River and a traditional bush kitchen which supplies outstanding meals from a homemade oven. Add to this some of the best and most knowledgeable guides in Africa and your adventure is complete!

Top Tip:
Old Mondoro offers a 'back to the bush' experience and is a great place for spotting elephant, leopard and the elusive African Wild Dog.
